Harry E. Temple

Harry E. Temple PERKINSVILLE, Vt. — Harry Edward Temple, 79, died peacefully at home on Sunday, March 8, 2020, shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was born on Jan. 9, 1941, in Nyack, New York, the son of Trevor and Nellie (Timmerman) Temple. Harry grew up in Byfield, Massachusetts, and graduated from Newburyport High School. He earned an Associate degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1965, he married Marianne Moulton of Boxford, Massachusetts, and they moved to Perkinsville, Vermont, where they raised their family and lived for many years. Harry worked as a draftsman and machine designer at Fellows Gear Shaper Co. in Springfield, Vermont. He later had his own business doing home repairs and other jobs and enjoyed working with his best friend, Dennis. Harry was an environmentalist and loved the outdoors. He served on his local conservation committee and was an active member of the Green Mountain Club for decades. He enjoyed hiking, bicycling, kayaking and cross-country skiing and had a lifelong interest in cars. He liked talking with others and loved telling stories. Harry’s wife, Marianne, died on March 16, 2014. He is survived by his two daughters, Tricia Temple of Perkinsville, Vermont, and Lisa Temple of Concord, Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Jordan Hom and Rachael Temple-McCabe of Perkinsville, Vermont; his brother, Robert Temple of Spokane, Washington; and several nieces and nephews and their children. He will be greatly missed by his dog, Eryss, and his cat, Jack. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Green Mountain Club (Upper Valley/Ottauquechee Section); the Compass School in Westminster, Vermont; or a charity of your choice.
