NEW LONDON — Colby-Sawyer seniors Lexie Hamilton (Sunapee, N.H.) and Tianna Sugars (Oxford, Maine) have been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women’s Basketball Second Team.
Junior Joslin Wainwright (Plainfield, N.H.) represented Colby-Sawyer on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Sugars earned her third-straight nod to an all-conference team after leading the Chargers with 15.9 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. She shot 45.9 percent from the field to rank fourth among GNAC players. Sugars also ranked fourth in free throw percentage (79.8), fifth in rebounds (287), fifth in rebounds per game, sixth in blocks (36), and sixth in points per game.
She collected an impressive 15 double-doubles this season, which ranks 21st in the nation. The 11 boards per game is 36th best in the country, while her 7.5 defensive rebounds rank 28th nationally. Sugars was twice named GNAC Player of the Week and earned a New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week honor.
Sugars ends her Colby-Sawyer career ranked third on the all-time scoring list with 1,363 points, third in rebounds with 963, fifth in blocks with 140, fourth in field goals made with 511 and third in free throws made with 327.
Hamilton earned her third all-conference second team honor after picking up a couple from the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in 2017 and 2018. She was second on the team this year with 14.0 points and 6.9 rebounds, while logging 34 minutes per game.
Among GNAC players, Hamilton was eighth in points per game and sixth in steals with 65. She collected 188 assists in the 2019-20 campaign to lead the conference and is currently ranked second in the nation with 7.2 assists per game.
She finishes her career as Colby-Sawyer’s all-time leader in assists with 689. That total puts her eighth on the NCAA Division III all-time career assists list. Her 6.75 assists per game average ranks her 11th in Division III history. She also had two triple-doubles this season to give her three for her career, which is most in program history.
Hamilton earned one GNAC Player of the Week award and one NEWBA Player of the Week honor. She also became one of two Colby-Sawyer women’s basketball players to earn a CoSIDA Academic All-District distinction. Hamilton also ranks sixth in program history with 1,286 points, seventh in steals with 225, seventh in three-pointers with 157, and fifth in made free throws with 291.
Wainwright started all of the team’s games for the second season in a row. She was third on the Chargers with 11.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Wainwright shot an impressive 49.4 percent from the floor to lead the team and rank second among all GNAC players. She poured in a career-high 22 points to help the team to a 73-58 victory at Plymouth State on Nov. 26.
