Ruth Wilson Hauge PORT ST. JOE, Fla. — Ruth Wilson Hauge, 88, of Port St. Joe, Florida, formerly of Sittville, New York. April 7, 1931 – March 29, 2020 Heaven has received a beautiful angel. Ruth Hauge, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and dear friend, passed away peacefully at her home holding hands with her loving husband, Bob. Ruth was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, daughter of the late Norman E. and Hilda Wilson. She was the youngest of four children. Ruth’s family moved to Tranquility Farm in Weathersfield Bow, Vermont, in 1944. Her parents operated the farm as a bed and breakfast. Her brothers, Ellsworth and Homer, worked the farm and sisters, Anita and Ruth helped to do the house chores. In 1945, Bob came into her life, driving a 1921 Model T Ford, from Claremont, New Hampshire. He spotted her beautiful blue eyes from the farm across the street where he worked. Their teenage love affair lasted 75 years. Bob has always continued to court the love of his life, Ruthie, in the Model T. Ruth graduated from Windsor High School in Vermont, Class of 1949. Robert Hauge and Ruth Wilson were married on Sept. 30, 1950, at the Windsor Methodist Church. Ruth and Bob settled in upstate New York to raise their family. She always gave her love to everyone she met. Her love of all of God’s creations made a life filled with so much happiness, that it was felt by everyone that knew her. She continued spreading her love to everyone. While raising a family of five, Ruth also was a Den Mother, a Room Mother, active in the PTA and Jaycettes, while living in Whitesboro, New York. As their family grew older, Ruth worked in sales at WT Grant Co., as a census taker, at the Holland Patent School cafeteria, and was treasurer of the Stittville Methodist Church. She then started a full-time day care in her home for children from the Stittville community. During their retirement they were able to spend many years traveling. They made trips to Bermuda, all through Europe and Bob’s Homeland of Norway. After vacationing many times in St. John, USVI, they then returned together to work at Mayo Bay Camps, St. John, for two years. Ruth also enjoyed a trip to Hawaii with her daughter Andrea’s family. Ruth found love and beauty in all people, the mountains, birds, flowers, changing seasons, Ruth and Bob loved to watch sunsets over the ocean. She had a great fondness for lighthouses, many of which decorated their homes. Ruth and Bob finally settled in Saint Joe Beach, Florida, where they became active in the Mexico Beach Lions Club, Council on Aging, Garden Club and the Methodist Church. They were always active in the communities where they resided. Ruth is survived by her best friend and love of her life, H. Robert “Bob” Hauge; daughter, Andrea (Walter) Kaczor; sons, Jon (Sandy) Hauge, Mark (Rhonda) Hauge, and Douglas Hauge; grandchildren, Kirsten (Mark) Kiser, Sarah (Scott) Greco, Stephen Kaczor, Robert (Keri) Kaczor, Adam (Jessica) Kaczor, Andreas (Brittany) Hauge, Ryan (Erika) Hauge, Kristen (Jason) Ray, Jonathan (Jaclyn) Hauge, Jordan (Brittani) Hauge, Joshua (Kimberly) Hauge and Sarah (Austin) Hauge; and her beloved fourteen great grandchildren. She will always be in the hearts of all her nieces and nephews, and her very special “girlfriends” Carol, Janet, Carolyn and Donavan. Ruth was predeceased by her parents; their son, Scott in 2015; Bob’s parents and his brother, John; her brothers, Ellsworth Wilson (Dorothea), Homer Wilson (Jean) and sister, Anita Laurion (Leroy); nephews, Bruce, Peter, Kenny and Gregory; and her canine companions, Rex, Hilda, Roxanna and Hurley. Due to the present health concerns, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
