Lawrence Farris HARRISON, Maine — Lawrence Farris, 79, died Monday, April 27, 2020, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born Feb. 12, 1941, in Lewiston, the son of Charles and Olive (Record) Farris. Lawrence grew up in Mechanic Falls and graduated from Norway High School. He joined the U.S. Army and became a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Lord, in North Waterford on Sept. 9, 1961. They moved to Claremont, New Hampshire, where they started their life together. Upon moving back to Maine in 1978, Lawrence worked as a machinist for Maine Machine Products for over 23 years, a position he enjoyed very much. Lawrence played on local softball and bowling leagues and actually broke a world record in bowling. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golfing. He is survived by four daughters, Laurie Swan of Harrison, Katherine Farris of Rangeley, Stacy Martin of Otisfield, and Heidi Farris of Claremont, New Hampshire; 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Joseph, Jackie, Julie, Jason, Amanda, Louis Jr., Justin, Tommy and Makayla; 11 great-grandchildren, Elexis, Autumn, Caleb, Hailey, Evan, Tyler, Colby, Tiviley, Autumn, Ellie and Henry; two sisters, Rachel Brisson and Eileen Ladd; a brother, Charles Farris; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lawrence was predeceased by five siblings, Priscilla Gammon, Robert Vashaw, Evelyn Austin, Charlotte Wyman and Ronald Farris. A private graveside service will be held for his family. A public Celebration of Life will take place at his beloved lake home on July 18. Arrangements are with Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 8 Elm St., Bridgton.
