They’re up! They’re down? They’re up! Down? We can just imagine what the flowers are saying. “Mother Nature! Make up your mind please!” We, too, hope she makes up her mind pretty soon. With all the time we have been spending inside, some good weather would be nice. Heads up. The stores are slowly reopening. We will be able to go outside only to go inside again. If you are not chilled by the wind, you could go for a walk or sit in the sun, soaking up the D’s and watching the flowers go up and down, up and down.
Our bleeding hearts are up slightly — just in time to have greeted the wonderful people who gave blood on Friday. Thanks to all the donors who came gave their time and “liquid gold.”
It is starting to look rosy at the Center. We have received two grants that will help up with expenses while we are closed. Thank you to the New Hampshire Foundation for a community grant and the Greater Sullivan County COVID Community Relief Fund for their grants. As we have mentioned before, we receive no city or government support. We rely on donations and grants to allow us to function. The grants are always welcome, but the donations from our patrons and members are more dear to us. Your donations have always kept us going during rough times. Your participation in meals and fundraisers let us know how much you appreciate what we do for seniors. Thank you.

June brings our first concert on Saturday, June 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Let’s hope we don’t have to cancel it. We need the music, socializing and the FRIES!
Fireworks will be happening during the month of July. Besides watching the local displays, (we hope), you will be treated to a free concert on Saturday, July 11. Also, on Saturday, July 25, we will be presenting our Annual Summer Fling Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Butterflies will abound as the crafters show you their handmade items. Join us!! We can’t wait to see you!
Not to be outdone, August will present sunflowers and sunny faces for the free concert on Aug. 8. Everyone has been chomping at the bit for the next event to happen. The gigantic Annual Penny Sale will be on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. We have added more items and numbered then neatly. All they are waiting for is your ticket in the bags. Believe us, they are sick of the storage room and are looking forward to new homes.
So far, the Car Show on Sunday, Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. is still going forward. We have the flyers all ready to go, a great committee working hard and a group assessing all the things we need. Stay tuned. We are still going for it!
Thought for the Week:
Times may be rough right now, but every new day brings new blessings.
Have a safe week everyone. Although we are bored right now, think ahead — when we all party!
Our halls await your laughter and lively conversation. See you soon.
