Peter E. Batchelder CLAREMONT — Peter E. Batchelder, 68, died on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at his home in Claremont, New Hampshire, surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health. Peter was born in Claremont, on June 25, 1951, the son of Thomas S. Sr. and Veronica (Gilbert) Batchelder, and was a lifelong Claremont resident. Throughout his life, he attended St. Mary’s, Stevens High School, and completed his education at the Claremont Vocational Technical College. He enjoyed a successful career in machine tool technology, completing his lifelong occupation as a machinist at Gloenco in Newport, New Hampshire, and retiring after many fulfilling years. Pete was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was a big fan of the Red Sox, football and racing. He was happiest when spending time with family and friends, playing cribbage or pool. He is survived by his daughter, Lindsay Farnsworth and husband Ralph, his two grandchildren, Grace and Griffin Farnsworth, Newbury, New Hampshire; his son, Matthew Batchelder and partner Alyssa Mills, Claremont, New Hampshire; his companion, Marline “Sissy” Taylor, Claremont, New Hampshire; a brother, John Batchelder, Windsor, Vermont; a sister, Sara Litevich and husband Jim, Claremont, New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Thomas S. Batchelder Jr.; and a sister, Mary Batchelder. Peter was a loving father, grandfather, partner, brother, and a loyal and supportive friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside committal services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, in the Union Cemetery in Claremont, with the Rev. Paul Boucher officiating. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the Lake Sunapee Region VNA/Hospice for their excellent care and compassion for Peter and his family during this very difficult journey. In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made in Peter’s memory in support of the Lake Sunapee Region VNA/Hospice, 107 Newport Road, New London, NH 03257; or the American Legion Post #29, 119 Broad St., Claremont, NH 03743. Most importantly, our family asks that you take a moment to hug your child, your grandchild, a friend, spend time with loved ones, help a stranger; time waits for no one. Peter’s last request to family members was for everyone to love each other; we hope that you will follow, as we will, his final request to love one another. You are invited to share a memory of Peter with the family or leave a message of condolence in the family guest book at www.royfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Roy Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
