Motorcyclist dies in collision with pickup truck

NEWPORT (AP) — A motorcyclist died in a collision with a pickup truck as the truck was pulling out of a driveway, police in New Hampshire said.

Police in Newport said Robert Bushway Jr., 47, of Lempster, was heading east on a street early Thursday when the truck made a left-hand turn out of the private driveway. The motorcycle struck the driver’s-side door of the truck, ejecting Bushway, who suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the scene, police said.

Police said they were reconstructing the collision to determine whether speed contributed to it.

Detective Stephen Lee said the speed limit there is 35 mph, and that there is a “Blind Drive” warning sign for drivers heading east on the street as they near the crest of a hill.

Bushway’s partner of 23 years, Cindy Linn, told the Valley News he was riding his motorcycle to work this week because his truck was being serviced. She said she was told Bushway had come over the crest of the hill as the truck was pulling out of the driveway.
