Garhetta “Dee” (Kemyon) Berg

Garhetta “Dee” (Kenyon) Berg FREMONT — Garhetta “Dee” (Kenyon) Berg, age 99, of Colonial Poplin Assisted Living Nursing Home, formerly of Bellows Falls, Vermont, passed away on July 13, 2020. Dee was born in Watertown, New York, on Oct. 22, 1920, the daughter of the late Albert Kenyon and Adelaide (Helmer) (Kenyon) Bronk. Her father died when she was very young. After her father’s death, when Dee and her sister were teens, her mother was remarried to William Bronk of Bellows Falls. Dee received her education in New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Vermont. She graduated from Bellows Falls High School. After graduation, she worked at Colby Jr. College in New London, New Hampshire, Landers, Frary & Clark in New Britain, Connecticut, and Chicago AT&T in Illinois. Dee met her husband, “Bill,” in New Britain, Connecticut. when he was a Navy Seabee. They married in New Britain on March 28, 1946. Shortly, thereafter, they moved to Chicago, Illinois, while Bill obtained his doctorate degree at Illinois College of Optometry and where they started their family and their oldest son, William, was born. After Bill’s college graduation, Bill, Dee and son Bill moved to Bellows Falls, where Bill started his practice. They raised three more children in Bellows Falls. Dee’s interests included bingo, playing cards, reading, reminiscing about the past, knitting and crocheting. When her children were young, she often volunteered at wellness clinics using her typing skills. She also crafted for school bazaars and was an active member of the PTA for many years. She enjoyed her time spent with family and friends. She is survived by her children, William “Bill” (Kathy) of Erie, Pennsylvania, Harold “Bud” (Toni) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Beatrice”’Babs” of Williston, Vermont, and Robert “Bob” (Joy) of Kingston, New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Christie Berg Anderson of Erie, Pennsylvania, Holly Berg (Jay) Daugherty of Girard, Pennsylvania, Heather Berg (Dave) Harvey of Port St. Lucie, Brittany Berg (Yuval) Arama of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, also, William Berg and Bailey Berg, both of Kingston, New Hampshire; seven great-grandchildren, Joseph and Angela Anderson of Erie, Pennsylvania, Devin, Aidan, Isabella, Dylan and Gabriel Harvey of Port St. Lucie, Florida; nieces/nephews, Steven Kovar of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, Mary-Ann (Mike) Delisle of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Rita (James) LaMoine of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, and Cindy (Steve) Qualley of Grand Forks, North Dakota. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. William J. Berg; sister, Margaret Kenyon Krupinsky Caine of Manchester, Connecticut; nieces, Rosalie Krupinsky Wilson of Manchester, Connecticut. and Joan Krupinsky Langevin of Surprise, Arizona; and sister/brother-in-law, William and Beatrice Kovar of East Grand Forks, Minnesota. She was also predeceased by her stepfather, William Bronk; and stepbrothers, Bruce, Rod, Harold and Jack Bronk. A special niece, Heidi Bronk Benson of Las Vegas, Nevada, survives her, as well as a special great-niece, Sheree Wilson Westerlund of South Burlington, Vermont, who spent many childhood summers with the Berg family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be left to Plaistow, New Hampshire, Meals On Wheels, 18 Greenough Road, Plaistow, NH 03865 (603)382-5995); or to a charity of your choice.
