Sverre “Chris” Christensen CLAREMONT — Sverre “Chris” Christensen, 78, of Claremont passed away suddenly at home on July 22, 2020. Chris was born on Nov. 4, 1941, in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Sverre H. and Helene (Lømo) Christensen of Oslo, Norway. He graduated from Upper Darby High School in Pennsylvania before entering the Air Force in 1961 (where the nickname “Chris” was born after his officers could not pronounce his entire name). He proudly worked at Sturm Ruger for 30+ years. In his spare time, Chris enjoyed model trains, visiting zoos and wildlife refuges, watching old movies, listening to his “oldies” music and spending time with his family. One of his favorite pastimes was riding motorcycles and reminiscing about their racing years with his best friend and father-in-law, Nippy Commerdinger of Newport. He is survived by his sister, Berit Christensen of Norway; his children, Wendy Rastallis of Newport, Kellei Christensen Agostinelli and husband Scott of North Carolina, and Eric Christensen and wife Jasmine of Claremont; grandchildren, Kraig Richards, Kristopher Kristl, Nicole Kristl, Cole Agostinelli, Devin Agostinelli and Brady Christensen; many loving family members in Norway and the States. He was predeceased by his wife, Judith Christensen, and his parents. Calling hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Homes Inc. on Wednesday, July 29, from 5-7 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the funeral home and Christensen family ask all attending the visitation to abide with all regulations and please wear a mask and use social distancing.
