CONCORD — New Hampshire’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management are advising inhabitants to prepare for potential impacts stemming from Tropical Storm Isaias.
In a press release issued by the New Hampshire Department of Safety on Sunday, state officials stress that although the degree to which the state, either partially or as a whole, may be affected by the storm, there are still steps that can be taken to best be prepared.
“Being prepared is critically important,” said New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Jennifer Harper. “It is important to understand that it only takes one hurricane or tropical storm to severely impact an area. Take time now to prepare your family. Know what to do and have the things you need to stay safe.”
Officials say that staying informed by signing up for alerts through the NH Alerts app, having a family emergency plan and constructing an emergency kit are three core steps to preparedness that all people can partake in to ensure their safety.
New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management is closely monitoring the storm with their partners at the National Weather Service. As of Sunday, it appears as though a weak tropical storm may impact New Hampshire late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
Officials emphasize that tropical storms and hurricanes are not a threat to just a threat to coastal communities. High winds, heavy rainfall, tornadoes, and flooding can occur anywhere in New Hampshire.
This story will be continuously updated as the strength and trajectory of the storm changes.
