Springfield Senior Center News: September 5, 2020

Phase 1 of reopening has been going very well. We will now be moving into Phase 2. On Tuesday, Sept. 22, we will start our Strength Training classes. These classes will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Remember that in order to use the weights you must have a completed form signed by your doctor. On Monday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m., Mat Yoga will be starting up again, followed by Chair Yoga on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. Class sizes will be limited.

Shuffleboard will also be starting on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 12:15 p.m. These activities can be done following the social distancing and mask-wearing.

Our Knit Wits group will start meeting on Thursdays, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. This group meets the first and third Thursdays of each month.

Watch for a date for our Book Club to start up soon.

Phase 3 will bring in our Ceramic classes starting on Monday, Oct. 5. Heidi will be conducting classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon. Due to the space we are limited to five people per class plus the instructor. Please call the center to let us know which day would work for you. All members will need to enter through the main door as you will need to sign in and have a temperature check done.

The Santa Claus Club has asked us to put the word out about needing wall calendars for their elderly participants that they deliver to. We will be the collection site for the calendars. Also, the hats, mittens, blankets, shawls, will still be needed this year for the local children.

Foot Clinics are now taking place on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. Janet Hunter, RN is doing our clinics now. Time slots start at 11 a.m. and appointments are necessary. The cost is $20.

Dale O’Brien who does our monthly birthday celebrations will have a gift for each missed month once we are fully able to celebrate again.

Masks are to be worn at all times in the center, along with social distancing. We are trying our best to comply with all the CDC guidelines in order to stay open and everyone staying safe.

If you have any questions about anything above, please reach out to Executive Director Lori Johnson at either (802) 885-3933 or [email protected].
