If you were looking for a competitive battle of athleticism and determination on a soccer field Monday, you didn’t have to search too hard to find it. Here is a recap of area sports games from Monday:

Rupp leads Yellow Jackets in 4-3 win against Leland & Gray

Elliot Rupp had all four goals for Windsor on Monday in a come-from-behind win after being down 3-2 at the half.

“The first half was a little shaky for us,” said Yellow Jacket head coach Jeff Bachey, “we had some girls playing in different positions and it was our first real work as a full squad, so we had some miscues early on in the game.”

Leland & Gray (L&G) was up 2-0 in the first 20 minutes but soon after that, it seemed like the tide was starting to turn with Elliot’s first goal — assisted by Evelyn Page — at the 23-minute mark. Both teams scored once more before half — L&G off a free kick just outside the 18 and Elliot off a through ball.

At the half, Windsor outshot L&G 9-5 and each keeper had four saves. Windsor got the scoring started off in the second half with two goals in the first 10 minutes of the half, both by Elliot and one assisted from Page (who ended up with two assists on the night). Windsor goalie Adi Prior ended the game with eight saves on 11 shots. Windsor ended up with 16 shots on frame.

“Adi played great in the second half making some key saves off corner kicks late in the game to keep the lead,” Bachey said. “Overall, we played a full 80-minute game and seemed to get better as the game went on.”

Windsor will host White River Valley on Thursday at 4 p.m.
