Dan Feltes will work hard on climate change

Between the pandemic and climate change, we are in real trouble. Gov. Chris Sununu, like President Trump, puts money ahead of sustainable life on earth. He vetoes every bill that would help us do anything substantial — even develop a climate action plan. Renewables are seen as competition. Here are just a few of the vetoed bills related to climate change:

SB168

Would increase the requirements for solar in the energy mix-now at a pittance of 0.7%. The veto favors fossil fuel interests.

HB365 and SB159

Net metering bills would allow municipalities, schools, and businesses to generate their own energy — up to 5 megawatts — and get credit for the excess they send to the grid. This saves them and taxpayers money, reduces fossil fuel generation, reduces the electric load on the grid, and creates resiliency. A coal plant generates 600 MWs.

SB205

Would promote critical energy efficiency programs.

HB582

Would control carbon dioxide emissions by charging for it at the source of generation to fund energy efficiency programs.

SB275

Would require state motor vehicles to be zero emission by 2039. Electric vehicles reduce emissions in the transportation sector, responsible for 42% of NH ’s greenhouse gases.

Dan Feltes has the knowledge, heart and honesty to move us forward through the pandemic and ongoing climate emergencies. The public needs and wants renewables. Sununu is in the way.
