Patricia J. (Morehouse) Rude NEWPORT — Patricia died peacefully at home with her family after a period of declining health. She will be missed by her many families – biological, adopted, church and community. After teaching in Sunapee for 25 years, she led Newport’s Adult Ed program, was an active Rotarian, served on the Library Arts Center Board, and was a deacon and financial secretary at South Congregational Church, UCC. Feisty and adventuresome, she spent her last years enjoying travels to visit her large family and sights unseen at home and abroad. Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother (GiGi), Granny, Aunt and Friend, she was an example of love and generosity to all. She was predeceased in 1989 by her husband, Wendell Rude, DC. Her loving survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Charen and Bob Urban, and Stephanie and Bob Gilson of Newport; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chloe Urban and Asher Johnson of Newport, Jonathan Gilson of Watertown, Massachusetts, Tristan, Shannon, Gavin and Juliet Gilson of Grantham, Maellyn, Benjamin, Josephine, Leo, Monty and Aurora Hain of Raymond, Nebraska, Andrew, Rachel and Enna Gilson of Arlington, Massachusetts, and Curtis Gilson of Grantham. She treasured her older half-sister, Virginia Engle, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Colorado, Washington State and her home state of Michigan. Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to South Congregational Church, UCC (20 Church St., Newport, NH 03773); Richards Free Library (58 North Main St., Newport, NH 03773); or Lake Sunapee VNA and Hospice (107 Newport Road, New London, NH 03257). There will be a private graveside service for family this fall followed by a Celebration of Life in the fall of 2021.
