Linda A. (Hurd) Demeis

Linda A. (Hurd) Demeis NEWPORT — Linda A. (Hurd) Demeis, 78, passed away on Oct. 10, 2020. Born on Nov. 24, 1941, to Robert and Virginia (Farmer) Hurd, Linda was a lifelong resident of Newport. She graduated from Towle High School with the class of 1959. A couple years later on Dec. 30, 1961, she married the love of her life, Arthur Demeis. She worked for the Town of Newport Assessing Department for 14 years, Kid’s Corner Kindergarten for 12 years, the NSO, and assisted her daughter with her business, Universal Physical Therapy. She was actively involved in Booster Club for many years. Above all, Linda cared about her family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and the driving force behind every warm smile she shared. The love and memories she shared with each of them was what she considered her biggest accomplishment. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Donna Page; and her grandparents, Arthur and Florence Hurd and Frank and Mary Farmer. Surviving family includes her husband of almost 59 years, Artie Demeis; daughters, Tracey Bevilacqua and husband Kevin of Goshen, New Hampshire, and Sandra Cherry and husband Daniel of Newport, New Hampshire; son, Michael Demeis and wife Kristi of Newport, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Brianne and Cory Bevilacqua, Aaron and Danielle Cherry, Alexis Demeis, and Koner Demeis and wife Shannon; great-grandchildren, Kensley Ayotte, Chase and Avery Bevilacqua; and many loved extended family members. Calling hours will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Fr. Michael Sartori officiating. All are welcome.
