Thomas H. Duling NEWPORT — Thomas H. Duling, 86, passed away on Oct. 10, 2020, at Woodlawn Care Center. Thomas was born on Sept. 10, 1934, to the late Herbert and Vivian Duling. He attended school in Sunapee, graduating from Sunapee High School. He worked at Dorr Woolen and Sturm Ruger, but his true passion was being an OHRV instructor for the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department for over 55 years. He taught thousands of kids about the safety and responsibility that comes with snowmobiling and hunting. He was a longtime resident of Springfield, New Hampshire, where he was health officer. Tom was hardworking, loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending summers on Kolelemook Lake. He was a member of the Iron Dog Brigade, an honorary society dedicated to the fun of snowmobiling. If he wasn’t on a snowmobile, you could find Tom on an ATV or a boat. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Midge Monkton. Surviving family includes his significant-other of 49 years, Arlene Wheeler; his daughter, Lori Weed and husband Wayne of Newport; brothers, Paul Duling and wife Sandra, and Jim Duling and wife Barbara; other close family, Lisa Willis and husband Mike, Linda Wheeler, Paula Corey, Betty Campbell and husband Scott, Julie Smith and husband Bub, all of their families; and a niece and several nephews. A special thank you to all the doctors, LNAs and nursing staff at Woodlawn Care Center and to LSVNA Hospice for their exceptional care. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, from 4-6 p.m. at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport. A private burial will be held in Springfield, New Hampshire.
