WINDSOR, Vt. — Greg Balch’s Yellow Jackets continue to be the toast of 7 v 7 football in Vermont with another high scoring win on Wednesday, this time a 49-20 thrashing over Woodstock.

The Jacks opened up with Jordan Place calling the signals as Vermont has adjusted their football games this year that highlights much less contact and pivoted to a high flying passing game so athleticism is key this year and Windsor is loaded with swift athletes.

The Yellow Jackets marched down the field on their first possession and jumped out to a 7-0 lead with a TD pass from Place to John Cook. With five receivers a center and a quarterback, this game is just a plain open field route running game that favors quick receivers and a sharp thrower. The Quarterback has only four seconds to throw the ball and there is no pass rush allowed from the seven defenders. Once the received catches the ball, a simple tag from a defender stops the play with a running clock so the game flies along very quickly.

The Wasps came right back to tie things 7-7 in the second quarter but with a new quarter, that also meant a switch of players on the Windsor side of the ball as the sophomore Maison Fortin didn’t skip a beat for Windsor and connected with Owen Abrahamsen and then Ben Gilbert increasing the lead to 21-7 by the end of the half.

With only one loss on the season, the Jacks have put up 331 points while giving up only 131 over the nine games. The scoring continued for the final two quarters as Owen Rhoad and Travis McAllister got in on the scoring act as the Yellow Jackets ended the day with a convincing 49-20 win.

The Yellow Jackets (8-1) will host Todd Aiken’s Springfield Cosmos on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a first round playoff contest.
