Unity Historical Society News: October 31, 2020

The Unity Historical Society would like to invite everyone to the dedication of the new Veterans’ Memorial on Sunday, Nov. 8, located on the Unity Town Common. The Unity Fire Department will start our celebration at noon with hamburgers and hot dogs. At 1 p.m., our dedication will begin at the new, beautiful memorial and brick patio site that honors our veterans. The Newport American Legion Honor guard will open the program with a salute and raising of the American Flag. After this, we will move into the Town Hall. Please wear your masks. Claremont Mayor Charlene Lovett will be our keynote speaker. Ed King, Captain of the Militia at the Fort at 4. will give a militia history and demonstration on the use of Muskets’. The Unity elementary school children will also be part of our program. We will also have displays of different military vehicles. Unity has sent many men and women into the service of our country over the years from the Revolutionary War on, whose lives are very much appreciated. The Unity Historical Society and the Town will honor you with the beautiful black granite memorial. Our wish if for everyone that can will help us honor our veterans’ from Unity.
