Election Day 2020 was marked with record turnout. While some states continue to count their ballots, New Hampshire and Vermont have announced record-setting numbers.
Secretary of State William Gardner said Friday that a total of 814,092 ballots were cast, which surpassed the state’s previous record by 58,000 set in 2016. In Claremont, 81% of registered voters turned out to cast their vote.
A similar story is being told in Vermont.
In a tweet posted on Wednesday, the Vermont Secretary of State’s office reported that more than 360,000 residents cast their vote in Tuesday’s election. This outnumbers the state’s previous record of 327,000 votes set in 2008.
