Albert F. “Pops” Earle Sr. CORNISH — Albert F. “Pops” Earle Sr., 83, of Cornish, New Hampshire, passed away Oct. 31, 2020, with family by his side, due to complications from a recent illness. He was born in March 1937 to parents Robert Earle and Ruth Hatch, in Windsor, Vermont. Albert is survived by four sons, Victor (Lynn), Albert (Sandi), Eric, Sam (Nina), and one daughter, Sherry (Chris); 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Alvin; numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Earle Sr.; mother, Ruth Hatch; brother, Robert Earle Jr.; and three sisters, Maude Stanley, Helen Woodbeck and Hannah Griffiths. Albert was a proud veteran who served during the Korean War with the United States Navy, and during the Vietnam War with the United States Coast Guard, where he earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for Valor. Albert retired from the Coast Guard in 1978 while living in Wilmington, North Carolina. He moved to Cornish, New Hampshire, in 1979 and began working for Don McClay Construction, then as the road agent in Plainfield, New Hampshire, and finally as the sexton for the Town of Cornish until he retired a second time. Albert was a former race car owner and driver at Claremont Speedway, where he was known to many as “Pops, Dad and Mr. Earle.” Albert had the good fortune to watch two of his sons also compete as race car drivers. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree, that’s for sure. Albert was a voracious reader, Louis L’Amour was his favorite.
