Carol Dixon

Carol Dixon NEWPORT — Retired nurse Carol Ann Dixon’s love of life did not end with her death. Carol passed away in December of 2020 at the age of 78 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, in the loving arms of her husband, Michael. Born and raised in Montreal, Canada, Carol studied nursing at Catherine Booth Hospital and continued to complete her degree as a Registered Nurse in Los Angeles, California. She will be missed by many of those close friends in the medical field. As a traveling nurse, Carol arrived in New London Hospital in New Hampshire in 2001 with a goal of assisting a friend with cancer who lived nearby. Here is where she fell in love with Michael, New Hampshire, many extended family and friends. Carol’s passion was for patient care and in-service instruction to fellow nurses, doctors, firefighters, police and EMTs. She also had a second career as an entrepreneur. She incorporated her love of teddy bears into a custom name tag company called ”Bears R Us” which is still used in the medical profession. Her thoughtful words, healing touch, kind acts, quick smiles will be remembered by all whose lives she touched. She leaves behind the love of her life, Michael. In her own words, “my knight in shining armor” and “the best husband I could have imagined for myself.” Survived by her husband, Michael; brother, Connell; nephew, Mark Seacord; and the Bremner family, in-law family, Lydia Dixon, Mark Dixon (Sara), Monica Blum (John), Anne Beedle (Bob); nieces and nephews, Peter Dixon, Leanne Beedle, Maggie Santandreu, Allie Laychak, Alissa Beedle and Jamie Blum. “Dr.” Ben (Holobowicz) was her devoted and dedicated medical provider until the day she died. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association (MA/NH chapter). Due to COVID-19, all services will be held at a later date.
