John G. Strich NORTH NEWPORT — John G. Strich, 82, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at his home in North Newport, on April 6, 2021. He was born on May 14, 1938, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to John and Margaret (Bobko) Strich. John grew up in Stratford, Connecticut, and graduated from Stratford High School with the class of 1956. He served in the United States Army Reserves in Connecticut and the Air National Guard in Kansas. He attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute (now Fairfield University). John worked for many years in the field of aviation engineering and technology, travelling extensively. He later became an expert in infrared engineering technology. John moved to New Hampshire where he became active in many organizations, including the VFW, American Legion, Moose Lodge and Forester’s Club. He liked dancing and loved sailing and being on the water. Surviving family members include his mother, Margaret Strich of Stratford, Connecticut; daughter, Deborah (Strich) August and her husband, Mark, of Bow, New Hampshire, and their daughter and granddaughter, Sarah and Aspen August; stepdaughter, Kerry Sally and her husband, Doug, of Webster, New Hampshire, and their children, Mark and Kristi Fadden; and brother, Richard Strich and his family. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newport, New Hampshire, Forester’s Club, 38 Maple St., Newport, NH 03773.
