WINDSOR, Vt. — The Yellow Jackets opened up their track season with wins in both the girls and boys events as they bested the teams from Hartford, Rutland, and White River Valley.
Windsor had double winners as Estella Attwood grabbed wins in the shot and discus for the girls while Ben Gilbert snagged first place finishes in the Pole vault and discus. Travis McAllister placed first in the long and triple jumps, Owen Abrahamsen took firsts in the 300m hurdles and high jump and Keegan Batchelder won the 100m and 200m races.
The Yellow Jackets also snagged first in the 4×400 relay with Miah McAllister, Anna Pierce, Gwen Ambrose, and Kiara Wildgoose while the boys team of Abrahamsen, Gilbert, Logan Worral, and Batchelder took first in the 4×100 relay. Janiah Young won the girls long jump while Tydus Percy grabbed first in the boys 400m dash.
Girls: Windsor 114, White River Valley 86, Hartford 83, Rutland Senior 16.
Boys: Windsor 179, Hartford 93, White River Valley 81, Rutland Senior 60.
White River Valley sophomore Jillian Barry broke the Vermont State Division IV record in the triple jump with a leap of 30 feet, 11 inches.
