Bertha (Guilmette) Storer CLAREMONT — Bertha Alice “Bert” Storer, formerly of Claremont, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Cottages at Cedar Community in West Bend, Wisconsin, on March 30, 2021. She was born on March 28, 1924, in Claremont, to Joseph Alfred Guilmette and Melina Marie Guilmette (nee Gauthier). Bert graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont and received her R.N. from the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hanover, New Hampshire. On Aug. 31, 1946, she married Howard Rogers Storer at St. Mary’s Church in Claremont. In 1956, the family moved from Claremont so Howard could attend engineering school and settled in Waukesha, Wisconsin, after his graduation in 1959. She retired from Waukesha Memorial Hospital where she enjoyed her part-time nursing career. Dedicated to her Catholic faith, Bert served as a church volunteer and was a member of the Catholic study club. An avid bridge player and golfer, Bert also loved tending to her gardens and watching wildlife. She and Howard traveled extensively, exploring nearly all 50 states and parts of Canada. She loved hiking the National Parks and visiting her brother, Richard Guilmette, who served as a ranger at Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Devil’s Tower. She is survived by her four loving children, Joyce Malloy (John), Hartford, Wisconsin, Bob Storer (Marcia) Missoula, Montana, Nancy Londo (Ricky), Grafton, Wisconsin, and Paul Storer, Juneau, Wisconsin; brother, Richard Guilmette, Rapid City, South Dakota; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; and her older half-brother, Emile Desy. Our family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you for the loving care and compassion given to our mother by the entire staff at the Cottages at Cedar Community. The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in North Lake, Wisconsin. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with a funeral Mass to follow at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Friends of Clearview (198 County DF, Juneau, WI 53039) in Bertha’s name would be appreciated. Burial will take place on July 7, 2021, in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Claremont. The Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend is serving the family.
