Stevens baseball, softball combine for 41 runs in wins over Lebanon

CLAREMONT — The Stevens Cardinals made a couple dozen trips around the diamond on Friday as the baseball and softball teams each won their games against the Lebanon Raiders.

Stevens baseball blasts Lebanon 13-1 in home openerOwen Taylor went the distance with a complete game win as the Cardinals avenged an earlier loss to Lebanon with a 13-1 win on Friday.

Stevens scored five times in their half of the first inning to spot Taylor all the runs he would need.

Zach Bundy led off with a singe and he would score along with Dylan Chambers, Taylor, Eric Peaslee, and Cody Pellerin for the 1-1 Cardinals.

“It felt really good today to get home and play our game,” Taylor said. “We put the ball in play and our defense was solid all game.”

Chambers would lead the Cardianls with two hits while Theriault, Peaslee, Pellerin, Dominic Puksta, Bryce Weymouth , Caden Ferland and Taylor all had RBIs for a balanced Cardinal attack.

The Cardinals will head to Mascoma on Monday then will return to the city on Wednesday to host the Royals for a 7 p.m. game.

Cardinals softball stomp Raiders, 28-3The Stevens Cardinals softball team improved to 2-0 after crushing Lebanon in their home opener on Friday with another big offensive output.

After spotting the visitors to a quick two runs, the Cardinals offensive took over scoring seven times in the first and 13 more times in the second inning to put things out of reach. Aunnah Shepard had a super offensive day with a double, single, and four RBIs. Zoey Foote had two hits and an RBI and Caidence Verrill had a bases clearing RBI blast in the second inning.

Kayla Maccioli had a double and 3 RBIs and Josie Aiken added a double for a 12-hit attack for Missy Nichol’s Cardinals.

Aiken and Kylie Bundy each struck out three and only allowed one hit on the mound for Stevens. The Cardinals defense was solid with only one error on the day and two double plays.

Stevens will head to Mascoma on Monday then play them under the lights at home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
