Joan Jenkins

Joan Jenkins CHARLESTOWN — Joan Jenkins, 89, formerly of Charlestown, died peacefully at her home in Huntersville, North Carolina, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. She was born on July 30, 1931, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to the late Gerard and Doris Muller. Joan had a full and fruitful life. She graduated high school from Cranford in New Jersey and received her associate degree from Berkeley Secretarial School. This educational path would lead her to be the executive assistant to the superintendent of the Fall Mountain Regional School District, Charlestown, New Hampshire. As a result of her exemplary service, The Joan B. Jenkins Outstanding Support Staff annual award was established to recognize an exceptional support staff associate in the district. She was a member of the Lions Club in Vancouver, Washington, where she received the Melvin Jones Award for distinguished service. Church was an important part of her life wherever she lived. In Claremont, New Hampshire, she was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and in Vancouver, Washington, a former member of the Laurelwood Baptist Church. Joan’s deepest desire was to serve her Savior, Jesus Christ, and to realize all those she loved would know Him for themselves. She strived to make everyone feel special and included, whether they were family, friend or acquaintance, remembering each one in her thoughts and prayers. While Joan will be missed immensely, there is comfort in the assurance she is rejoicing with her Savior and reuniting with her family who has gone before her. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Emerson Jenkins; and sister, Carolyn Addiss-Ritchie. Joan is survived by her daughters, Beth Haynes (John) of Claremont, New Hampshire, Judy Chandler (Jay) of Dublin, New Hampshire, Jill Van Duyn (Keven) of Bloomfield, Connecticut, and Joy Karpicus (Joseph) of Huntersville, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and three nieces and nephews. The family will have a private service at a later date in New Hampshire. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church at calvarybaptistnh.org/giving.
