SUNAPEE — Sunapee welcomed Hinsdale to town for a baseball/softball double header under perfect weather conditions after several reschedules.

On the baseball diamond, Jackson Cooney had a three hit day from his lead-off spot as the Lakers downed Hinsdale in both ends of a double header, 9-0 and 15-1. Harper Flint and Hunter Morse started on the hill for Sunapee today and had plenty of support from the Sunapee bats.

Jacob Stoughton started things off for Sunapee in game one as the Lakers pushed across 8 runs in the fourth inning to break open a close game. Cooney, Flint, Morse, Sam Flint, and Garrett Rumrill all had hits in the big inning for a 9-1 win.

Morse started on the bump in game two and the Laker bats picked right up where they left off in game one. Cooney blasted a triple and would score on a Flint single to open the game for Sunapee. By the time Sean Moynihan and Phil Ritzman had touched home, the Lakers were on their way to win number two as they led 9-0 after 2 innings. Head coach Tom Frederick had plenty of contributions from the entire team as they cruised to a 15-1 win in the night cap.

On the softball field, Natalie Austin was in charge as the Lady Lakers stormed out early while Austin shut down a potent Hinsdale offense to grab a win in game one 10-3. Anah Durkee started the show for Sunapee with a single and trotted home on a triple off the bat of Austin. Molly Reed would add a triple of her own as Krista Miner, Emma McNally, Izzy Serentino, Sarah Petrin and Mel Reed all cracked hits as Sunapee led 6-0 early. After a Petrin home run in the fourth inning, Sunapee would add four more runs late to secure the win as Austin would go the distance to grab the win. Petrin would end the game with a 3-3 performance and three RBIs while Serrentino and Austin would each finish with two hits each.

Hinsdale found their bats in game two and pushed a cross nine runs early as Sunapee had a hole to dig out of. The Lakers would close the gap in a hurry with four runs in the second inning by way of a four hits in a row. McNally would lead things off with a single as she was followed with singles by Petrin, Reed and Savanah Riessel cutting the Pacer lead to 9-4. Austin came on for Sunapee to shut the visitors down the rest of the game while a home run blast off the bat of Reed in Sunapee’s last at bat was all the scoring on the day as Hinsdale capped the day off with a 9-5 win.

Reed had another great game at the plate going 3-3 with a home run.
