WINDSOR, Vt. — Yellow Jacket freshman Johnny Clark allowed only one seeing eye single as he went the distance for Windsor registering a one-hit 10-0 win over Otter Valley on Tuesday.

Windsor would give Clark all the runs he would need and more with a 6 run first inning started by a Jordan Place single from the lead off spot. Place would round the bases with the winning run as an Ethan Belvin double and a Charles Palmer single was added to some walks and a hit batter to give Windsor a quick lead.

“We’ve always hit the ball well this year but our errors in the field have hurt and today we were mistake-free and it makes things a lot easier on our pitchers,” said Windsor head coach Jamie Richardson.

Clark was in control throughout the game with the only blemish coming on a weak grounder in the third inning that trickled its way up the middle for the visitors only base runner of the day.

“I was getting ahead of the batters with first ball strikes and I mixed up my pitch speed really well and Ethan was perfect behind the plate for me,” said Clark after the game. “It was a good team win.”

Windsor has been hurt with errors at times this season but today wasn’t one of them.

“We had a two-hour practice Saturday morning and we did nothing but take ground balls for 45 minutes straight. I think that paid off,” Richardson said. “We looked sharp today and this is what we can be going forward.”

While Clark ended his day with nine strikeouts and zero walks on 69 pitches, the Windsor lumber banged out nine hits including a three-RBI day off the bat of Adam Dufour and RBIs from Belvin and Dalton Clifford. Maison Fortin and Kaleb Swett also had hits for Windsor while Clark helped his own cause with a hit as well.
