Stevens 12, Mascoma 3 baseballThe Cardinals Dylan Chambers was fantastic in going the distance, seven innings pitched, just three hits, two walks, 17 strikeouts, three runs, just one earned run.
Chambers also went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, and two runs scored. Zack Bundy had two hits and an RBI. Ty Theriault had three hits. Dom Puksta had a hit and 2 RBI, and Cody Pellerin scored a pair of runs.
The three seniors honored before the game were Bryce Weymouth, Caden Ferland, and Owen Taylor. All three seniors contributed, as Taylor had a hit and an RBI, as did Caden and even with an injury, Bryce was able to get in. Bryce tore a hamstring and has missed the last nine games and is still not 100%, but he was able to pinch hit and lined a single to right for a hit on Senior Night.
Thursday’s win puts the Cardinals at 7-5 with the Kirby Cup game with Fall Mountain tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Hubbard Park
Windsor edges GM, 7-6 softballThe Yellow Jackets came away with the win for their senior game 7-6 as the Jacks honored 10 seniors. It’s was a 1-1 ball game until GM scored 3 in the 5th inning on some Windsor errors and walks and the Chieftains added two more runs in the 6th. Windsor started chipping away with Adi Prior starting off the inning with a single and Mya Harriman hitting her in to cut the lead with Windsor (8-3) down two going into the bottom of the 7th. Evelyn Page started the inning with a walk then the patience of a senior team took advantage of what GM was giving them plating the go ahead and winning runs.
Madison Leduc started in the circle Monday and Peyton Richardson came in for relief. Richardson also had a triple today that scored a run in the 6th while Prior added two singles.
Next game home against the always tough Brattleboro Colonels and close out the season Saturday at Springfield.
Fall Mountain 13, Kearsarge 1 baseballThe Wildcats scored seven runs in the 3rd inning and added six in the 4th for the mercy rule win after five inning. Kearsarge’s only run came in the top of the 5th inning. The winning pitcher was Dominic Van Laere-Nutting and the loser was Ben Baigiotti.
John Stark hands Stevens 2 losses
With playoffs starting next week, D2 John Stark rode into the city and left with a couple of wins under their belts. In softball action on Monday, Makayla Maccioli hammered out two hits for Stevens but the John Stark pitching was on spot as they shut down the Stevens offense for a 6-0 win while the John Stark baseball team ended things early with a 13-2 win at Barnes Park.
Bellows Falls 13, Windsor 3 baseballThe Terriers jumped out early with 11 runs and coasted for the win. Burke, Nystrom, Graham and Monier all had multiple hits while Carvinho got the win for Bellows Falls on Monday.
Brattleboro 5, Windsor 4 softballPeyton Richardson went the distance allowing 10 hits and had 6 Ks. The Jacks came out hot scoring three runs in the first then didn’t score again until the seventh to tie the game on a hit to deep right field from Alyssa Slocum and scored Hannah Wood from second. Adi Prior and Wood going 4-2 both singles. Mya Harriman had a big hit in the first to score two runs.
“All and all, I’m pretty happy with the way we played today versus a D1 school, a couple little fixes and we win that game after one bad three-run inning from Bratt,” said Windsor Head Coach Heather Stearns.
Fitzpatrick grabs championshipClaremont’s Ditto Fitzpatrick won his first NEBA title at the Rip Callahan Memorial in Newington, Connecticut. He started the weekend off by earning a spot in the finals with 1155 on the Sunday morning squad. The 26-year old righty, shot 233 to make it through the elimination round to the bracket of the top 16. He defeated champions Chris Viale 235-198, Chris Sole 246-214, and Todd Lathrop 258-235 for a spot in the championship match. After a slow start by both bowlers. Ditto took the lead to end up with a 232-188 victory for his first title. According to “Bowlage,” Fitzpatrick started in the 11th seeded position and grabbed $1200 for his efforts plus he is entered into the tournament of champions.
