Springfield track results

SPRINGFIELD – On May 22, the Springfield High School Track and Field team held their senior meet, hosting Green Mountain and White River Valley.

Cosmos mens’ team finished second and women third. The womens’ relays all came in first place: the 4x100m in 1:04.55 (Hannah Dolloff, Hailey Sliker, JJ Prouty, Kaylee Newton); the 4x400m in 5:16.94 (Chloe Jerman-Brown, K. Newton, H. Sliker, Anna Ondre); the 4x800m in 11:58.02 (Jerman-Brown, Angelina Woychosky, Alicia Ostrom, A. Ondre)

Individually on the women’s side, the seniors led the team. Jerman-Brown placed first in the 1500m run at 5:51.01, and second in the 800m run at 2:45.08. Anna Ondre won High Jump with a best of 4 feet 8 inches, Skyler Congdon took second in discus with a Personal Record of 73’5.5”, Haley Gibbons placed second in Triple Jump at 28’10”, third in Shotput at 24’ and third in javelin with a season’s best 65’11. 

Junior Alicia Ostrom placed second in the 1500m at 6:15.18, and third in the 800m at 2:59.73. Sophomore Olivia Howard took third in 1500m (6:54.33-PR), and fourth in 800m (3:20.71-PR), Senior Hannah Dolloff placed fourth in 200m (33.37), and fifth in 100m (15.94). Sophomore Kaylee Newton came in fifth in discus at 61’4” and 6th in shot put with 20’1”. Ninth-grader JJ Prouty finished fifth in 200m (34.84), and Hailey Sliker 6th (35.74). 

For the men’s team, the Cosmos 4x800m relay (Tim Amsden, Jayden Garganese, Dylan Magoon, Damian Stagner) won in 10:23.97. Their 4x100m team (T. Amsden, Adam Hammerle, Marshall Simpson, Chris Jeffers) finished second(52.26), as did the 4×400 (T. Amsden, M. Simpson, Aidan Donahue, C. Jeffers) in 4:15.04.

Individually, senior Donavin Sprano won discus with a PR of 91’6.5”. Sophomore Damian Stagner won the 800m in 2:22.08, and also the 1500m in 5:17.55. Junior Tim Amsden won the 300m hurdles his first time running them (51.04). Junior Captain Aidan Donahue won Shotput (34’9”), and placed second in 400m run (1:02.17), Junior Chris Jeffers won Long Jump with a PR of 18’11”, took second in 200m dash (26.61), and fourth in HJ (5’2”). Freshman Dylan Magoon placed second in 1500m (5:20.00), and fourth in 800m (2:31.20). Sophomore Jayden Garganese came in third in 1500m (5:20.24), and 6th in 800m (2:35.32-PR). Freshman Marshall Simpson placed fourth in 400m (1:05.58-PR), and fifth in 200m (29.24-PR). Junior Austin Laplante finished fourth in 1500m (5:35.21), and sixth in 200m (29.84-PR). Sophomore Cole Wright placed sixth in Shotput (30’9”). Sophomore Adam Hammerle finished sixth in 100m(14.03).

On Monday, May 24, Springfield wrapped up their regular season with a dual meet against reigning D2 champion Bellows Falls. BF won the meet for both men and women, but the Cosmos put forth strong performances, recording many PRs and qualifying several additional athletes for the D3 State meet.

Anna Ondre led the women’s team, winning LJ (14’4”-PR), and HJ (4’6”); she placed third in 300mH (58.52), and fifth in 800m(3:07.88). Chloe Jerman-Brown won the 1500m (5:42.12), and the 800m (2:44.66), with PRs in both. 

Haley Gibbons placed second in her first attempt at 300mH (55.69), second in TJ (28’9”), and third in Shotput (26’0”PR). Alicia Ostrom took third in the 800m (2:58.86-PR), and fourth in 1500m (6:00.50-PR). Hannah Dolloff placed fourth in the 100m (15.65), and fifth in the 200m (33.25-SR). Kaylee Newton took third in Disc (60’9”), sixth in 200m (34.78), and sixth in Shot (22’5”). Liv Loney placed fourth in Discus (57’7”), eighth in Javelin (63’8”PR), throws that qualified her for States. Gabby Anders finished 6th in Disc (54’4”). Hannah Zierfus placed fifth in Shotput (22’8”-PR). Olivia Howard finished fifth in 1500m (7:04.98). Angelina Woychosky placed fourth in her first 300mH (62.47), and 6th in 800m (3:22.37). JJ Prouty placed fifth in both the 100m (16.66), and 300mH (72.95). Haley Sliker came in 6th in 100m (16.70).

The women’s 4x800m (Jerman-Brown, Ostrom, Woychosky, Ondre) won uncontested(12:29.59). Their 4x100m (Dolloff, Sliker, Prouty, Newton) placed third (1:08.41).

Damian Stagner led the men’s team, winning the 1500m run with an impressive 15-second PR of 4:51.75, then winning the 800m (2:30.63) as well. Aidan Donahue won the 400m (62.72), and placed second in Shotput (34’11”), Tim Amsden won the 300mH(50.94-PR). Chris Jeffers placed third in both HJ (5’2”), and TJ (35’2.5”-PR); seventh in Shot (27’6”PR).

Dylan Magoon took second in Jav (80’-PR”), and second in 800m(2:38.54), as well as third in the 1500 (5:18.09).

Austin Laplante placed second in 200m (30.89), third in 400m (74.24-PR), and fourth in 1500m (5:24.21).

Marshall Simpson finished second in the 400m (68.46). Cole Wright placed fourth in Shot (30’8”), sixth in Disc (57’3”).

Jayden Garganese came in fifth in 1500m (5:26.58).

In a brief pause during the meet, the program recognized its six seniors and their families for their contributions over four years.
