William A. Duncan IPSWICH, Mass. — On Friday, May 21, 2021, William A. Duncan, 63, passed away suddenly at his home in Ipswich, Massachusetts, due to a heart condition. Born on April 11, 1958, to Richard and Theofilia Duncan in Newport, New Hampshire, Bill graduated from Newport High School in 1976. He went on to the University of Rochester in New York, earning a degree in Economics and Psychology. In 1988, Bill married Jo-Ann MacMonagle and together, they raised their son, Riley, in Beverly, then Ipswich, Massachusetts. His profession was in the field of IT and he retired from Epicor Software Inc. Bill was an active man who enjoyed skiing, whitewater kayaking, bicycling and hiking. After college, he and his brother, Tom, bicycled cross-country from Oregon to Virginia. After he retired, he enjoyed traveling with his family, including several extended trips to Spain. He enjoyed music and was an accomplished guitarist. Bill was a longtime member of the Penguins Ski Club of Bartlett, New Hampshire. Bill was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Charlie. He is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann; their son, Riley; sisters, Janis (Edmund Taylor) of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and Barbara (Sam Salmon) of Oliva, Spain; twin brother, Tom Duncan of Warner, New Hampshire. Also surviving him are many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Bill’s life will take place at the convenience of the family at a later date.
