BURLINGTON, Vt. — The Yellow Jackets came so very close to grabbing the Vermont Decathlon championship as they fell to Essex by only two points to earn second place over the two-day event with only a three-person team.
Owen Abrahamsen continued his impressive first day with an equally strong second day with a second-place finish in the 110m hurdles, a third-place finish in the pole vault, and a 12th-place finish in the javelin to earn him a second place overall.
Ben Gilbert took home a first-place finish in the discus and 13th in the pole vault to finish in seventh place overall. Travis McAllister continued his strong showing with a 43rd place finish in the grueling 1500m run to grab to place him in the top 30 athletes in the meet.
Tela Harty had a terrific meet for Bellows Falls as she ended the 2 day competition in the top 25. The Terriers freshman sensation grabbed an eighth-place finish in the shot put then followed that up with a strong 11th place in the high jump and 19th place in the 100m hurdles.
