Edward J. Andersen GOSHEN — Edward J. Andersen, 78, of Brook Road, died Thursday, June 24, 2021, at The Seasons at Summercrest, Newport, New Hampshire. He was born in Baldwin, Long Island, New York, on Aug. 26, 1942, the son of Edward J. and Anna M. (Gilligan) Andersen. He lived on Long Island until moving to Goshen in 1982. He started early in his career with Wonder Bread as a route driver in New York and retired as the branch manager in 2006. Funny and outgoing, Ed was a people-person and loved to tell jokes. Anybody who knew him probably heard him tell one of his favorites, “The Three Rings of Marriage.” He served as a selectman for Goshen and worked part time as the transfer station attendant. He liked hunting, fishing and sports. It wasn’t often you’d see him without either his Boston Red Sox or Patriots hat. And, although he thought he was tricked into it, to his surprise, he loved taking ballroom dancing lessons with Joyce. Ed was so loving and kind and had a terrible time saying “no” to anyone, which went hand-in-hand with his great personality. He loved his family, as well as all the family pets. He was predeceased by his parents; twin sister, Carol Cline; and son-in-law, Bobby McCrossin. Ed is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce (Donner) Andersen, of Goshen, New Hampshire; three children, Deborah McCrossin, of Nashua, New Hampshire, Kathy Mason and husband Michael, of Lebanon, New Hampshire, and Edward Andersen of Sunapee, New Hampshire; eight grandchildren, Keith and wife Katelyn, Brian, Stacy and fiancé Edward Shea, Megan, Logan, Nova, Miranda and Kaitlyn; six great-grandchildren, Adriana, Owen, Evan, Madison, Connor and MacKenzie; a sister, Patricia Page, of Chatham, New Jersey; a daughter-in-law, Erin Andersen, of Sunapee, New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Newport, New Hampshire. Please wear a mask at calling hours and be aware of social distancing. A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. in Mill Village Cemetery, Goshen, New Hampshire. A time for refreshments and stories will follow at the home of Ed’s son in Sunapee, New Hampshire. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 166 South River Road, Bedford, NH 03110.
