Lucille M. Matteau

Lucille M. Matteau CLAREMONT — Lucille M. Matteau, 95, formerly of Sullivan Street in Claremont, New Hampshire, died Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Sullivan County Healthcare in Unity, New Hampshire, following a period of failing health. She was born in Greenville, Massachusetts, on Jan. 25, 1926, the daughter of Albert and Marion (LaCasse) Gosselin and had been a longtime Claremont resident. She was the widow of Raymond A. Matteau, her husband of 44 years who died in 1986. Lucille had been employed by several area shoe shops, including Encore Shoe and Royce Shoe. She had also been employed at Sullivan County Healthcare in the kitchen and worked with Bob Cote, assisting him with catering, and also worked at Brooks Drug Store. She volunteered at the Claremont Soup Kitchen and the Claremont Senior Center. Lucille enjoyed bus trips with the seniors, family get-togethers, especially around the holidays. She also enjoyed music, playing games on her Kindle, Facebook. She was a great cook and was known for her lasagna and homemade donuts. Needlepoint, knitting, her collection of teddy bears and angels, vacations on Long Pond and trips to the ocean were always things she cherished. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for 70 years. Members of her family include Alfred Matteau and his wife, Donna, Nashua, New Hampshire; Paul Matteau and his wife, Judy, Arizona; Diane Beaudry and her husband, Armand “Pin,” Claremont, New Hampshire; Denis Matteau and his wife, Debora, Claremont, New Hampshire; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Kristie, Denee, Caroline, Danielle, Jeffrey; 10 great-grandchildren, Finn, Tess, Nate, Alex, Enzo, Maxwell, Abigail, Andrew, Lyla and Brayden; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Jeanette Willey, Sudbury, Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Margaret Gosselin, Massachusetts. She was predeceased by three brothers, Camille Gosselin, Norman Gosselin, Roger Gosselin; and a sister, Claire Ranney. There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 2, at St. Joseph’s Church with the Rev. Arockia Antony officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
