CHARLESTOWN — Authorities have released the identities of two men involved in a ultra-light aircraft crash Saturday afternoon at Morningside Flight Park in Charlestown.
Paul Harrison, 54, of Rygate, Vt., died in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release issued Sunday afternoon by the Charlestown Police Department. Ilya Rivkin, 47, of Windham, Maine, was the other occupant of the aircraft at the time of the crash and was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when Charlestown’s dispatch center was notified of the incident involving an ultra-light single-engine aircraft often used to tow gliders known as a Bailey-Moyes Dragonfly.
Emergency crews from several local agencies responded to the crash, including the New Hampshire State Police, Claremont Fire Department, Charlestown Police and Fire Departments, and Golden Cross Ambulance.
