Claremont Senior Center News: July 24, 2021

Hi everyone. Congratulations to the members of our new board. Here is a look at the new board. Chairperson Michelle Bryant, Vice-Chair Tom Liveston, Secretary Donna Cornet, Treasurer Lloyd Mann, and supporting members Denny Francais, Brenda Ruest, and Linda Howard. May you have a great year.

It’s stunning and it could be yours. The Claremont Country Quilters have made and donated a gorgeous Car Show quilted wall hanging. The lovely quilt will be on display at the Claremont Senior Center until the winner is announced at the Car Show on Sunday, Aug. 29. Raffle tickets will be available starting on Monday, July 26. They are $1 each or six for $5. You’ll be glad you took a chance.

The Penny Sale was so much fun. Thank you to those who donated items and those who came to the sale and took the prizes home. This was a major fundraiser and was a success. Thanks to all our volunteers for your hard work. We hope you had fun. We did!

August promises to be a busy month so hold on. There’s a lot happening. Here goes!

On Sunday, Aug. 1, we are having a Re-Open House from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. You will get a glance into our world. The inside and outside will be filled with displays and information about what we have here. You will see volunteers playing cribbage and Mahjongg, pool ad ping-pong, coloring, knitting, quilting, chess. Our computer room will be open where members can take out puzzles and books. Outside will be cars from the car show, corn hole, and horseshoes (new court coming). So gather up your friends and come on over. Trial memberships will be available. See y you here!

We’ll follow this up with fantastic music on Friday, Aug. 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. What a treat! The Firehouse 6 will perform, rain or shine, outside or in. You will love them no matter where they are. It in your favorite lawn chair, lean back and relax, listen to great music, have an ice cream sundae with toppings. Stomp your feet and sing if you wish. This concert is open to the public and free. Thanks Roz Caplan.

On we go. The Foot Clinic will be at the Center on Wednesday, July 28, Thursday, Aug. 5, Wednesday, Aug. 11, Wednesday, Aug. 18, and Wednesday, Aug. 25. Call (603) 748-1731 for an appointment. Bend and cut, bend and — and not even close. Bend and not get up. We can help. Call today.

The Senior Men’s Breakfast is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 15, at 8 a.m. Bring your friends. The volunteers will be serving Pancakes, Sausage or Bacon, Juice and Coffee. A speaker speaker will be present about 8:45 p.m. Last week Trooper Brandon Bean gave a very informative speech on Scams. Thanks. Members are $2, nonmembers are $3. Good food, lousy service.

The August Blood Drive will take place on Monday, Aug. 23, from noon to 5 p.m. Call-1-800-RED-CROSS to make an appointment. Let’s see if we can donate more blood then the rain from June-August. Thanks for your help.

Here it comes! The Claremont Senior Center Car Show will be held on Sunday, Aug. 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Live history of the automobile will be on display in full color. We expect the years 1908-2021 to be on site.

Trophies will be awarded at 2 p.m. I 10 classes, best in Show, Oldest and Farthest away. Remember, you choose the winners of all categories and Best in Show. Admission is still $5, Show Cars-$10 for driver and one passenger. Door prizes, DJ, T-shirts, 50/50, and delirious food, ice cream, and popcorn.
