James M. Silvers PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — James Martin “Jim” Silvers, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Born Aug. 30, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harry and Marion (Solymos) Silvers. Jim grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina, and attended UNC-Chapel Hill where he discovered bluegrass music. Before retiring to the Pawleys Island area, he ran his industrial and residential recycling business in Claremont, New Hampshire, for 32 years. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, his love of bluegrass music and fine cigars. He loved animals, especially his pets, and in his retirement years, spent many afternoons on the golf course. Jim is survived by his wife, Cynthia “Cindy” Wright Silvers; daughter Juliana (John) Stockwell, son James Silvers Jr., stepdaughter Alyson (Ed) Hobbs; grandchildren, Nathan, Anna, Claire, Ethan; sister Wendy (Ken) Johnson; sister-in-law Sue Silvers; several cousins, nieces and nephews; his special dog-friends, Coconut and Mae; and Pepper, the African grey parrot. He was predeceased by his brother, Mark Silvers, DVM.
