Lois A. Flanders

Lois A. Flanders SUNAPEE — Lois A. (Holmes) Flanders, 93, of Sunapee Cove, died peacefully Wednesday, July 28, 2021. She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Aug. 2, 1927, the daughter of Raymond T. and Gertrude (Swanson) Holmes. She graduated from Centenary Junior College and after marriage, became a stay-at-home mom. She and her family owned a vacation home on Lake Sunapee since 1955 and left Massachusetts in 1967 to live in Candia and then Deerfield, New Hampshire. Lois owned and operated Langford House Realtors for about 13 years and then concentrated on volunteer projects. She had lived in Newbury for many years before moving to Sunapee Cove four years ago. As a volunteer at The Fells, Lois was house manager and a docent. She gave much of her time to volunteering as a marine docent at Ordiorne Point, a house docent at Strawberry Banke Museum and was involved with Friends of Mount Sunapee. She enjoyed gardening, tennis and used to love to ski. An incredibly talented quilter, she was a member of the Soo-Nipi Guild, Chicks in the Sticks and Folly Farm Quilters. Operating Fells Cove Design, Lois sold baskets, quilts, pillows and wall hangings. She could do so many different crafts, including braiding rugs, needle felting and knitting. She took her products to the Newbury Farmers Market. She also held classes in her home for those who wanted to learn these skills. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, who died in 1978; her parents; and a brother, Taylor. Lois is survived by two daughters, Deb Flanders, of Newbury, and Holly Flanders, of Heber, Utah; two sons, Jay Flanders, of Newbury, and Charles “Chuck” and his wife, Veronica Flanders, of Littleton, New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Hillary and her fiance, Steven Kratovich, of Sunapee, New Hampshire, Jon and his wife, Hanna, of Bradford, New Hampshire, Zach, of Newbury, Beth Anne, of Encinitas, California, Alex and Tyler, both of Heber, Utah; three great-grandchildren, Chase, Charlotte and Vance; and four nieces. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
