Burlington set high low temperature records last week

BURLINGTON, Vt. — Last week’s hot weather set a record in Burlington for five consecutive days of low temperatures above 70 degrees (21.1 Celcius).

Aug. 9 through Aug. 13 was the longest stretch of such days since 1901, the National Weather Service in Burlington posted on Twitter.

Burlington also had record high low temperatures on two days, the Burlington Free Press reported. Aug. 11 and Aug. 12 had low temperatures of 75 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The humidity caused temperatures to feel hotter than they were with the maximum heat index last week for Burlington at 97 degrees, the weather service said.

This week high temperatures will be mostly in the low 80s, with low temperatures dipping into the 60s at night, according to the weather service.
