LANGDON — It took the Lady Wildcats a few minutes to find their legs but once they did, the offense really took off.

“Tonight is how I know we can play,” said senior Makenna Grillone as Fall Mountain evened their record at 1-1 with a convincing win over Mascoma 8-3. “Everything came together and the younger players showed everyone that they can step it up.”

With a trio of strikers looking to put goals in the net, Grillone showed her leadership and got things rolling with a blast 14 minutes into the game from a great assist from Sophia Bruzgis and the flood gates opened.

“We found a nice flow and took advantage of it,”said Fall Mountain head coach Bruce Ferland. “It’s a building block moving forward.”

Mariella Tsitsonis and Grillone kept pounding away against Mascoma’s Emma Bill who had a busy night in net for the Royals. Tsitsonis would sneak one in from a tough angle to score the first of her four goals on the night before Sophia Bruzgis made it 4-0 at the start of the second half and Fall Mountain was on their way.

“I though we started to connect on our passes much better tonight and the younger players really started to integrate into the system,” said Bruzgis after the game.

With seniors Avery Stewart, Emilee Peck and Nora Dunnigan anchoring a defense that included strong freshman performances by Sydney Byrne and Skyelar Blanchard, Ferland went deep into his bench for much of the final 40 minutes.

“We had that rush tonight,” said Grillone who had a fantastic game dishing things out from her midfield position. “The younger players stepped it up and the game speed and pace really favored us.”

Tsitsonis ended with four goals and an assists while Grillone finished with a hat-trick along with an assist.

Dunnigan notched two assists while Bruzgis, Peck, Sammy Mallet and Emma Putnam all finished with assists.

The Wildcats (1-1) will hit the road for the first time on Friday as they head to 1-1 Monadnock.
