Local Roundup: Sunapee is having a great week

Sunapee’s junior varsity and varsity volleyball team were both victorious over Hillsboro-Deering Monday night. The Junior Varsity team won in two matches, 25-16 and 25-7, respectively. Junior Allison Tschudin and Freshman Marianne Dowsett and Alizabeth Mitcher dominated the serving line. Dowsett secured the second match with 9 aces in the set. The team did an outstanding job of covering the court and returning the ball with consistency.

The varsity team won the game in three matches with the Hillcats. In the first match both teams traded points until the end with a final score of 25-20 Sunapee win. After that, the Lakers did not look back. The remaining two sets were Sunapee wins, 25-24 and 25-21. Junior Emma McNally and Sophomore Katelyn Clause led the team in attacks and kills. The Lakers solidified their victory with solid serving from Junior Allison Tschudin and Sophomore Riley Parenteau.

The Lakers are on the road to face Newfound on Wednesday.

Lady Lakers rollSunapee looked confident against Mount Royal Academy on a perfect fall afternoon at Fisher Field in Newbury on route to a 8-0 victory that highlighted multiple Lakers on the scoresheet, including goals by Liz Tschudin (3), Brynn Smith (2), Sophie Hubert, Natalie Austin and Amelia Slack. Assists were awarded to Brynn Smith (2), Liz Tschudin (1), Hannah Laflamme (1) and Sophie Hubert (1).

“We were able to play a lot of kids in the game today and execute many of our team goals,” said Lakers coach Myles Cooney. “I am looking forward to a strong week of practice.”

The Lakers are back in action Thursday at home versus Hinsdale.
