The Green Mountain boys soccer avenged there only loss to date with a 4-0 win over Brattleboro in Chester on Wednesday.
The Chieftains were led by two first-half goals from Everett Mosher at 32.27 and 20:27.
Green Mountain wasn’t done yet as Tanner Swisher and Joah Gibson capped the scoring for the 7-1 Chieftains while dropping Brattleboro to 5-2.
Stevens golfer crush the competitionThe Cardinals swept their golf match on Wednesday against Bishop Brady and Laconia.
Reeve Wilkinson (18), CJ Naugher (16), Cedric Allen (15), Ian Gersberg (13) all had very strong days while Lydia Redman, Zach Perkins, and Aubree Herzog all contributed to the 62 Stevens points.
Bishop Brady placed second with 53 while Laconia ended the day with 39 points.
Springfield 8, Bellows Falls 0
Ari Cioffi scored four goals as the Cosmos (3-3) scored four times in each half in its win at Gurney Field.
Laila Buskey added two more and Kayla Quelch and Emma Snyder had one each to round out the scoring.
Megan Stagner and Kylie Nadeau combined on the shutout.
Fall Mountain runs wild in NewportWith teams from Derryfield, Hillsboro-Deering, and Newport, the Wildcats dominated the event winning both races at the 5K cross country race at the Corbin Covered Bridge in Newport.
The Fall Mountain boys team won their race with four runners placing in the top five.
Ben Tetu, David Northcott and Ben Frithsen were the top three boys, followed by Ben Roy from Derryfield in fourth and Gabe Lloyd of Fall Mountain in fifth.
The Fall Mountain girls had three runners in the top five: Ruby Frithsen, Anna Lloyd, and Jen Mallet.
Also finishing strongly for the Fall Mountain Boys team: 12th Caleb Kinson 21:01, 13th Walter Lyons 21:02, 21st Troy Feller 23:55, 22nd James Paulette 24:01, 23rd Francis Aldrich 24:51, and Braydon Patch 27:49.
The next race for the Wildcats will be Friday, Oct. 1, at Hillsboro-Deering.
Fall Mountain edges Stevens to grab 2nd placeWith Bow running away to win the match, it all came down to Stevens and Fall Mountain to fight it out for the next spot.
The Wildcats edged the Cardinals by a single point 58-57.
Fall Mountain’s Mitch Cormier took individual honors while the Cardinals CJ Naugler finished with a strong third place showing.
Reeve Wilkinson and Cedric Allen each ended up with double digit scores for the Cardinals while Cameron Fry and Jon Grenier helped pace Fall Mountain.
Lady Lakers burry Epping 12-0The Sunapee Lakers girls varsity soccer team took a 12-0 victory at Epping High School on Tuesday.
Scoring came from all over the field including the likes of Natalie Austin, Brynn Smith, Sienna Regan, Liz Tschudin, Amelia Slack and Sophie Bourque.
Sunapee dominated possession and look to keep improving as they work toward the second half of the season.
“I was pleased with a lot of things I saw today,” said Sunapee coach Myles Cooney. “We put new offensive concepts into the game plan, and while it didn’t always work, the girls were working hard to learn some new skills and approaches for the last third of the field. We were Able to play a lot of players, and worked on rounding out the contributions from everyone.”
The Lakers return to action on Saturday for the homecoming game against Wilton at 3 p.m. the boys team will follow at 5 p.m.
Sunapee 1, Epping 0The Lakers travelled to Epping today to take on the undefeated Blue Devils this afternoon. The game was tight the whole way.
The only difference was a Vincent Borelli goal in the 19th minute. Sam Flint hit a hard shot that the Epping keeper parried away from the goal but Borelli was there for the rebound.
Both teams battled hard but the Sunapee defense held true and denied all opportunities by the Blue Devils. Keeper Jake Galloway earned the shutout.
Andrew Claus, Cam Messenger, Maddox Cahill, and Drew Clifford were a stalwart back four.
Windsor drops OT game to White River, 2-1Windsor lost a tough game to White River in a well fought contest on the road.
Elliot Rupp scored the Yellow Jacket goal while White River ended things about 6 minutes into overtime.
Windsor is now 1-6 and we head to Bellows Falls on Friday.
