Victoria Barbo Miyara

Victoria Barbo Miyara CLAREMONT — Victoria J. “Vicki” Barbo Miyara, 89, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Claremont, New Hampshire, passed away on Sept. 21, 2021, in Naples. Vicki was born in Newton, Massachusetts, on April 19, 1932, to Charles Barbo and Mary Jeraldi Barbo. As the first in her family to go to college, Vicki attended Boston University and was graduated in 1952. There, she built friendships that lasted the rest of her life. Vicki worked in hospital administration in Boston where she met her husband, Alberto Miyara, MD. Vicki moved to Claremont in 1963 where she raised her family and lived for more than 20 years. Vicki worked with many charitable organizations in Claremont. She attained her real estate license and enjoyed working with close friends. Vicki loved playing tennis with dear friends, snowmobiling, and time spent on Lake Sunapee. In 1991, Vicki was reunited with longtime friend, Joel Bass, and they remained partners in a loving relationship for nearly 30 years. Vicki and Joel made Naples, Florida, home for much of their time together, where there was always an open door for neighbors and friends. She loved playing canasta with the “card girls.” Vicki enjoyed travelling, including trips to Europe, Cape Cod and annually to Ogunquit, Maine. Vicki is survived by her son, Richard S. Miyara and daughter-in-law Lisa LaVaude Miyara, of Bow, New Hampshire; her granddaughter, Jocelyn C. Miyara, of Brooklyn, New York, and her grandson, Louis C. Miyara, of Boston, Massachusetts; sisters, Ellena B. O’Toole, of Washington, DC, Janet Martel, of Hingham, Massachusetts, and Patricia C. Gunches, of Woodland Hills, California; many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alberto Miyara; her partner, Joel Bass; her daughter, Gabrielle J. Miyara; and her siblings, Lucy Branzetti and Charlotte Wilder. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 8401 Colesville Road, Suite 200, Silver Spring, MD 20910. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her caregivers who provided so much help and love this past year.
