Dustin B. Burnett WEST FAIRLEE, Vt. — Dustin Bruce Burnett (DBB#15) died peacefully at his home in West Fairlee, Vermont, on Dec. 15, 2020. Dustin was born Feb. 21, 1969, in Claremont, New Hampshire. He attended Claremont schools and graduated from Stevens High School in 1987. Dustin furthered his education at Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. After graduation, he taught physical education at Frances Richmond School in Hanover, New Hampshire, while also coaching Hanover High School’s Junior Varsity Soccer Team. Dustin operated his own sporting goods store for a number of years before returning to teaching at Thetford Academy, Thetford, Vermont. At the Academy, he worked with their soccer program and was instrumental in starting a mountain biking program. In 1999, Dustin established Touchline Soccer Tech, a yearly summer soccer camp focusing on technical skills and techniques. He kept the camps active throughout his endeavors. His love of soccer started in early childhood with the Community Center Pee Wee Soccer League and culminated as part of the very successful SHS Varsity team under the guidance of widely beloved Coach Ray Bernard. Dustin was a four-year starter on the SRU soccer team and competed in several local soccer leagues in his adult years. He wore jersey #15 during his entire soccer career and included DBB#15 as part of his signature. He formed many lifelong friendships along the way. Dustin was predeceased by his “Madre,” Bonnie Cusanelli Richmond, with whom he had a very close and special relationship. Dustin is survived by his brother, Michael Burnett Jr., and sister-in-law, Roxanna Barnaby, of Orford, New Hampshire; his stepfather, Frank Richmond, and stepbrothers, Michael Richmond and Scott Richmond, all of Claremont. He also leaves behind his father, Michael Burnett Sr. and Nanette, of Arizona. There will be an interment gathering in West Claremont Burying Ground in Claremont, on Oct. 20, 2021, at 2 p.m. At that time, friends and family are encouraged to share thoughts, memories or anecdotes about their experiences with Dustin.
