WESTMINSTER, Vt. — The No. 2 seed Bellows Falls field hockey team will be playing in a state championship game for the seventh year in a row, following an exciting come-from-behind 2-1 win against Essex on Tuesday in the Division I semifinals.
Essex’s Paige Rovnak staked the visitors to a 1-0 lead in the second quarter that held up into the second half as Bellows Falls just couldn’t find the back of the goal. The Terriers Emma Bazin would get Bethany’s Coursen’s defending state champions team a goal in the third period to make thing square 1-1.
Sadie Scott would hammer the game-winner in the back of the cage early in the in the fourth quarter while a nest of Honret’s watched helplessly on the rising shot.
The Terriers (16-0) face No. 1 South Burlington (15-0-1) in Saturday’s Division I state championship at the University of Vermont at 3 p.m.
