The past nearly two years have been difficult for all of us. There is no doubt about that. And in times of uncertainty, in times of tragedy, in times of isolation, we often tend to look to absolutes, to constants in life.
During the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic it seems that even those, too, have fallen once or twice.
An unfortunate victim in this has been local sports. The devotion and dedication and passion that our area youths demonstrate on the field day in and day out, come rain or shine, in glorious victory or humble defeat alike, serves as an inspiration to us all.
In our reporting of area sports it is never the mere score at the end of the game that counts, but the acts of selflessness and sportsmanship showcased with each pass of the ball, each handshake of goodwill, and each uttered word of encouragement.
In honor of their example and in the spirit of the tremendous fall sports season we all experienced, the Eagle Times wishes to highlight a number of area athletes whose prowess in their respective sport stood out to each and every person who watched them play.
