WINDSOR, Vt. — Perfection wore green and gold on Friday as Kabray Rockwood’s Yellow Jackets made the game of basketball look easy against Bellows Falls in front of a decent crowd.
“When you have a team of players that work hard during the off season, play AAU basketball, know the game and execute, it is a fun game to watch,” Rockwood said.
James Naismith would be in awe if he caught a glimpse of what a running and pressing team can accomplish. With a talented senior class led by first quarter scoring by Reese Perry’s 10 points, Elliott Rupp’s nine points, and Peyton Richardson’s six points combined with Karen Kapuscinski’s board domination and Hannah Putnam’s in your face defense, Windsor exploded out to a lead and just kept their foot on the gas for an 81-8 win.
Bellows Falls head coach Todd Wells has a gritty bunch of players led by Julia Nystrom but the Jacks full court press never let Bellows Falls in the game. Every made Windsor bucket was met with quick hands and even quicker feet as the Terriers had trouble even getting across the mid-court at times.
“This team just loves to play the game of basketball,” Perry said.
As Rockwood brought players in and out of the game at breakneck speed, Wells was just trying to find a combination of players from his very young team to to get quality shots off. Delaney Lockerby led Bellows Falls with five points but the waves of talent stepping onto the court from the Windsor sidelines was just too much for Bellows Falls.
Windsor placed 11 players in the score book and were led by: Elliot Rupp, 21 points, four assists, and five steals; Reese Perry, 16 points and 15 rebounds; Peyton Richardson, eight points and nine steals; Audrey Rupp, eight points; Karen Kapuscinski, seven points; and Sydney Perry, five points and 10 rebounds.
