Local Roundup: Area teams weather COVID

Staff Report
A flurry of games were postponed on Wednesday across New Hampshire because of school closings in response to inclement weather and a rise of COVID-19 cases. Officials are now working to reschedule competitions.

The Newport vs Fall Mountain contests have been pushed back until Jan. 12. Ray Curran’s Stevens boys game with Hillsboro-Deering has also been postponed as was the Cardinals’ swim meet coached by Abbey Rouillard.

The Christmas tournaments for Fall Mountain and Stevens are canceled. Instead, Stevens will be doing something a bit different for their teams and fans.

The Cardinals will be having a charity basketball game on Wednesday Dec. 29, at 6:30 p.m. The plan is to have both the Varsity boys and girls team combine with one quarter having three girls and two boys on the floor for each team and vice versa for next one. Proceeds from donations will go towards scholarships for Stevens students and there will be a half court shooting contest at the half plus other ideas are still being worked on.

Kearsarge 63, Campbell 43Kearsarge came out with great energy on both ends of the court, getting a big road win against a very good Campbell team.

Unselfish play and great ball movement gave Kearsarge the lead at the half 38-25. Every time Campbell made a run or hit big shots, Kearsarge came right back to answer with big plays of their own, eventually pulling away in the third and fourth quarters. Kearsarge outscored Campbell 25-18 in the second half.

Windsor boys down Thetford AcademyMaison Fortin finished with 24 points for the Jacks in the team’s 49-42 win on Wednesday.
