Keith R. Fulton

Keith R. Fulton LEMPSTER — Keith Robert Fulton, 86, of Lempster, New Hampshire, died peacefully in New London on Dec. 22, 2021. Keith was born at his home in Mexico, Maine, on Jan. 9, 1935, the son of Hugh Joseph and Velma (Spaulding) Fulton. Keith loved to work hard and spent his early years delivering papers for the Lewiston Daily Sun, working at J.C. Penney and First National Supermarket, and as a logger with his grandfather, Walter Spaulding. He worked briefly for New England Concrete in Springfield, Massachusetts, before settling in Connecticut where he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and then began working construction with Daddario and DeFonce Inc., participating in the construction of the Newburgh Beacon Bridge in Newburgh, New York, and Interstate 95 from New York to New Haven, Connecticut. In 1958, he met and married Della Virginia Van Camp and they made their home in Stratford, Connecticut, and started a family which grew with the addition of five children. Among many other blessings, Keith instilled in his children his strong sense of family, his dedication to working hard for everything you have, to be kind and compassionate, and his deep love and appreciation for music. Everyone loved to hear Keith sing. In 1965, he took second place in a music competition, scoring a recording offer from RCA Records. Despite his love of performing, he turned it down in favor of keeping his focus on his family. That didn’t stop him from a lifetime of playing his guitar, singing everyone’s favorite songs, and passing his musical talents and enthusiasm along to his kids. In 1975, they moved their young family to Lempster, New Hampshire, where they purchased and revitalized the Chatterbox-Exxon store and garage, building a thriving country store that housed the Lempster Post Office and lunch counter and a busy service station, complete with pumps, providing car and truck repairs, gas, diesel and kerosene, and both private and New Hampshire DOT plowing and sanding services. In 1981, Keith and Della sold the store and garage so that Keith could return to the construction business he enjoyed so much and together, they built Fulton’s Construction, offering sand, gravel, loam and stone products and providing full earthwork services. Keith was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, snow sports and anything else that would keep him outside and adventurous. He loved the woods, he loved nature and he especially loved doing anything that could include his wife, his children and his dogs. Keith was predeceased by his parents; and his siblings, brothers, Hugh Joseph Fulton Jr. and Dale Wayne Fulton; and sisters, Birdina Pauline Allen and Sharee Starr Thompson. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Della; sons, Robert Keith Fulton and his wife, Judy, of Sarasota, Florida, Troy Scott Fulton and his partner of 25 years, Karen Coronis, of Newport, and Jason Michael Fulton, of Lempster; daughters, Tammy Lynne Jackson and her husband, Cliff Clegg, of Sunapee, Traci Jo Homol and her husband, Michael, of Lempster and Allison Lynne Mollica and her husband, Joseph, of Concord. He also leaves a legacy in an abundance of loving and beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. And he will be forever missed by his fur buddy, Maverick. A celebration of Keith Fulton’s memorable life will be held sometime in the summer 2022. In lieu of flowers, please donate to or volunteer at your local pet rescue or humane society. God called your name so softly that only you could hear, and no one heard the footsteps of the angels drawing near. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. Gone but not forgotten.
