Velma “Tina” Newton SPRINGFIELD — Velma May “Tina” Newton, passed away on Jan. 11, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 20, 1946, in Newport, New Hampshire, to the late Herman Walker Sr. and Emma (Laforest) Walker. Tina married Randolph “Gig” Newton and they shared 56 years together. Tina was very family oriented. Her world was spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was very loving and caring and took in many people over the years who came to think of her as “Mom.” Tina also had a feisty side at times with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed flowers, birds, yard sales and music, especially Elvis. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving family members include her loving husband of 56 years, Gig Newton, of Springfield, New Hampshire; daughters, Peggy Simoneau and her husband, Wayne, of Newport, New Hampshire, Penny Newton, of Lebanon, New Hampshire, and Katy Newton, of Astoria, New York; siblings, Barbara Bushway, of Lempster, New Hampshire, Alice Ayotte, of Unity, New Hampshire, and Herman Walker Jr., of Charlestown, New Hampshire and Angela Willets of Unity, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Randy Simoneau, Chelsea Simoneau and Dylan Doersam; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tina’s name can be made to: Wags and Wiggles Rescue, P.O. Box 106, Newport, NH 03773. PayPal and Venmo donations may also be sent. Services will be private. Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
